ಕೊರ್ದಟು (Cock Fight)

ಕಾಜರ್ಗುತ್ತಿನಲ್ಲಿ  ಮೂರು ದಿನ ಕೋಲ ದ ನಂತರ ಎರಡು ದಿನ ಕೊರ್ದಟು ನಡೆಯುತ್ತದೆ. ಅದರ ಕೆಲವು ಫೋಟೋ ಮತ್ತು videos ಇಲ್ಲಿದೆ.

ದಶಕಗಳಿಂದ ನಡೆದು ಬರುತ್ತಿಹ ಗ್ರಾಮದ ಕೋಲ, ಇ ಸಲ ೧೯,೨೦, ೨೧ ಕ್ಕೆ ಕಾಜರಗುತ್ತಿನಲ್ಲಿ ನಡೆಯಿತು. ಓಂಕಾರ್ ಯುಥ್ ಕ್ಲಬ್ ನ  ಸದಸ್ಯರು ಅಲ್ಲಿ ಗೆ ಭೇಟಿ ನೀಡಿ , ಗ್ರಾಮ ದೇವರ ಆಶೀರ್ವಾದ ಪಡೆದರು. ನೆರೆಹೊರೆಯ ಎಲ್ಲ ಗ್ರಾಮಸ್ಥರು ಅಲ್ಲಿ  ನೆರೆಯುತ್ತಾರೆ. ತುಂಬಾ ಹಳೆ ಕಾಲದಿಂದ ನಡೆದು ಬರುತ್ತ್ತಿಹ ಇ ಕೊಲಕ್ಕೆ ಜನರು ತುಂಬಾ ಆದ್ಯತೆ ನೀಡುತ್ತಾರೆ.  ಎಲ್ಲರೂ ತಪ್ಪದೆ ಬಂದು ದೇವರ ಆಶಿರ್ವಾದಕ್ಕೆ  ಭಾಜನರಾಗುತ್ತಾರೆ. ಜನರು ತಮ್ಮ ಕಷ್ಟವನ್ನು, ಸಂಕಟವನ್ನು ದೇವರಲ್ಲಿ ಹೇಳಿ ಸೂಕ್ತ ಸಮಾಧಾನವನ್ನು ಪಡೆಯುತ್ತಾರೆ.

 ಮೂರು ದಿನ ಇ ಕೋಲ ಸಮಾರಾಧನೆ ನಡೆಯುತ್ತದೆ. ಮೊದಲ ದಿನ ಜುಮಾದಿಯ ಕೋಲ. ಎರಡನೆ ದಿನ ಬೊಬ್ಬರ್ಯ ಮತ್ತೆ ಮೂರನೇ ದಿನ ಮುಗ್ಗೆರ ಕೋಲ ನಡೆಯುತ್ತದೆ.  

             ದೈವ ಗಳ ಸ್ಥಾನ ತುಂಬಾ ಹಳೆದಗಿದ್ದು, ಅದನ್ನು ಜೀರ್ನೋದ್ಧರ ಮಾಡುವ ಸಲುವಾಗಿ ಆರುಡ ಪ್ರೆಶ್ನೆ ಹಾಕಿ ನೋಡಲಾಗಿತ್ತು.ಆಗ ಹಲವು ನಿಘುಡ ಸತ್ಯಗಳು ಬಯಲಾದವು.ಭೈರಂಜೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ಪುರಾತನ ಕಾಲದ ಶಿವನ ದೇವಸ್ತಾನ ಇದೆ(ಇ ದೇವಸ್ಥಾನದ ಫೋಟೋ ಹಾಗು ಅದರ ಬಗ್ಗೆ ಸಂಪೂರ್ಣ ಮಾಹಿತಿ ಮುಂದಿನ ಪೋಸ್ಟಲ್ಲಿ ಕೊಡಲಾಗುವುದು).ಇ ದೇವಸ್ತಾನ ತುಂಬಾ ಕಾರ್ನಿಕ ದೇವಸ್ತಾನ ಹಾಗು ಗ್ರಾಮ ದೇವರ  ಪೂಜೆಯ ಮೊದಲು ಆ ದೇವಾಲಯದಲ್ಲಿ ಪೂಜೆ ನಡೆಯಬೇಕು.ಈ ದೇವಸ್ಥಾನದ ಜೀರ್ನೋಧ್ಹಾರ ಕೂಡ ಆಗಬೇಕಾಗಿದೆ ಎಂದು ಹಲವು ವಿಷಯಗಳು ಗೊತ್ತಾದವು. ಆದರೆ ಅದೆಲ್ಲ ಇ ಸಲ ಪರಿಹಾರ  ಮಾಡಲು ಸಾದ್ಯವಾಗಲಿಲ್ಲ  ಹಾಗು ಅದಕ್ಕೆ  ತುಂಬಾ ಖರ್ಚಾಗುತ್ತದೆ. 

 ಈ ಸಲ ಕೋಲದ ಮೊದಲು ಹಲವು  ಯಾಗಗಳು ನಡೆದವು ಹಾಗು ಮಧ್ಯಾನ್ನ ಬಂದವರೆಲ್ಲರಿಗೂ ಊಟದ ವ್ಯವಸ್ತೆ ಕೂಡ ಮಾಡಲಾಗಿತ್ತು. ಸುಮಾರು ಒಂದು ಸಾವಿರ ಜನ ಬಂದಿದ್ದರು.

ಕಡೆ ದಿನ ಕೋಲ ತುಂಬಾ ವಿಜ್ರಂಬನೆಯಿಂದ ನಡೆಯುತ್ತದೆ. ತುಂಬಾ ಜನರು ನೆರೆಯುತ್ತಾರೆ. ಮಕ್ಕಳು ಆಟಿಕೆಗಳನ್ನು ಖರೀದಿಸಲು ಬರುತ್ತಾರೆ. ಕೋಲ ಬೆಳಿಗ್ಗೆಯ ವರೆಗೆ ನಡೆಯುತ್ತದೆ. ಒಂದು ಸಣ್ಣ ವೀಡಿಯೊ attach ಮಾಡಿದ್ದೇನೆ. ನೋಡಿ ಆನಂದಿಸಿ. 

Bhairanje School....

In this post I will introduce you the oldest and the most famous monument of Bhairanje i.e " ಶ್ರೀ ಶಾರದಾ  ಖಾಸಗಿ ಹಿರಿಯ ಪ್ರಾಥಮಿಕ ಶಾಲೆ"  which is unfortunately closed today.

Bhairanje school was started as a small hut around 60 to 70 years ago. That time it was just the beginning of Indian education in various parts of the country. This was one of  the first schools that opened in the district.But very soon due to the lack of space it was shifted to a new location i.e the present location under the management of Mr.Vittal Hegde, Kilenje. He was the founder of the school and under his leadership the school grew rapidly.

The year from 1950 to 1985 can be called as the Golden Time of this school. In this period the school witnessed some of the best teachers and students. At that time Bhairanje school was the only noted school and children from all the neighboring places preferred this school. Students were from places like Athrady, Parkala, Ontibettu, Kajarguttu, Nayarguttu, Paddama, Mutturu, Pernankila, Hirebettu, Patla, Vaktebettu, Devasbail, Kodi, Tatturu, Laate etc.

After the advent of English Medium schools in the nearby places, the number of students joining our school gradually reduced.The management also did not take any measure to tackle this problem. There was lot of pressure put by local people on the Management to continue the school, but the Management failed miserably and the people couldn't do much about it. Hence after few years the school had to be closed and now it is like a haunted place where nobody visits and nobody cares.

Bhairanje School which was the "Heart of Bhairanje" for more than  50 years is on the verge of collapsing. If this continues it will definitely won't last for not more than 1 year.I have uploaded some of the pics to show the present condition of the school.

The view of the school is really heartbreaking.The walls are breaking .The ceiling is about to fall. Bushes have grown inside the school. Bats and other birds have made it as their home.As a whole the school is in a pathetic condition.The only way to save this is by renovating it as early as possible and atleast keep it as a place to conduct various social activities. 

Patanjali Prana Yoga

     Yoga is a Sanskrit word derived from the Sanskrit root "yuj" which means to connect, join or balance.Yoga is considered as the way of life. It is very traditional yet very scientific and it is the most valuable knowledge known to mankind. 

Patanjali is regarded as the founder of the formal Yoga philosophy. Patanjali's yoga is known as Raja yoga, which is a system for control of the mind.There are countless benefits of practicing yoga. It is said that yoga can cure any kind of mental and physical disorders and helps in keeping a healthy mind in a healthy body.

Omkar youth Club has arranged an one week Pathanjali Yoga program to people from all walks of life. It will be conducted from 3rd to 9th of January at Bhairanje school. A noted Pathanjali Yoga Teacher will be called for the course.The course will be totally free of cost. On behalf of Omkar Youth Club, I request everybody to make use of this opportunity.

ಮನದಾಳದ ಮಾತುಗಳು

ನಮಸ್ಕಾರ

             ನನ್ನ ಹೆಸರು  ವಿಷ್ಣು . ನಾನು ಒಬ್ಬ ಓಂಕಾರ್ ಯುವಕ ಮಂಡಲದ ಸದಸ್ಯ. ನಮ್ಮ ಈ ತಂಡ ಸ್ಥಾಪನೆಗೊಂಡು ಒಂದುವರೆ ವರ್ಷ  ಆಯಿತು. ಈ  ಒಂದುವರೆ ವರ್ಷದಲ್ಲಿ ತುಂಬಾ ಒಳ್ಳೆಯದು ಮತ್ತು ಕೆಟ್ಟದ್ದು  ನಡೆದಿದೆ. ಇದನ್ನು ನಿಮ್ಮ ಮುಂದೆ ಬಿಚ್ಚಿಡಲು ನಾನು ಬಯಸಿದ್ದೇನೆ.

ಮೊದಲನೆಯದಾಗಿ   ಕೆಟ್ಟದು ನಡೆದದ್ದರಿಂದ ಓಂಕಾರ್ ತಂಡ  ಒಳ್ಳೆಯ  ತಂಡವಾಗಿ  ಮಾರ್ಪಡಲು  ಕಾರಣವಾಯಿತು . ನಮ್ಮ ಹೊಸ ತಂಡ ಉದ್ಭವ ಆಗುವ ಮೊದಲು, ಅಂದರೆ  ಡಿಸೆಂಬರ್  2009 ಕೊನೆಯ ವಾರದಲ್ಲಿ ಹೊಸ ವರ್ಷದ ಆಚರಣೆ ಬಗ್ಗೆ ಚರ್ಚೆ ನಡೆಯಲಾರಂಭವಾಯಿತು. ಆಗ ನಮ್ಮ ತಂಡದಲ್ಲಿದ್ದ ಇಬ್ಬರು ಸದಸ್ಯರು nonveg ಬೇಡ veg items ಮಾಡಬೇಕು ಅಂತ ಪಟ್ಟು ಹಿಡಿದರು. ಇದಕ್ಕೆ ಉಳಿದ ಸದಸ್ಯರ ಸಮ್ಮತಿ ಇರಲಿಲ್ಲ. ಆಗ ಇವರಿರ್ವರು ನಮ್ಮದು ಬೇರೆನೇ ತಂಡ ಮಾಡ್ತೇವೆ ಅಂತ ಹೋಗಿಬಿಟ್ಟರು. ಸರಿ... ಎಂದು ನಾವು ಸುಮ್ಮಗೆ ಕುಳಿತು ಬಿಟ್ಟೆವು. ಹೊಸವರ್ಷ  ಆಚರಣೆಯಲ್ಲಿಯೂ ಎರಡು ಪಂಗಡವಾಯಿತು. ಅದರ ನಂತರ ನಾವು ಸಂಧಾನ ಮಾಡೋಣ ನಮ್ಮ ಊರೊಳಗೆ ಇಂಥ ಜಗಳ ಎಲ್ಲ ಬೇಡ ಅಂತ ಅವರಲ್ಲಿ ಕೇಳಿಕೊಂಡೆವು. ಆದರೆ ಅವರು ಅದಕ್ಕೆ ಒಪ್ಪಲಿಲ್ಲ, ನಮ್ಮದು ಬೇರೆನೇ... ತಂಡ ಅಂದುಕೊಂಡು ಕಾಲ್ಕಿತ್ತರು. ನಾವು ಸರಿ ಎಂದು ನಮ್ಮ  ಉಳಿದ ಸದಸ್ಯರೊಡನೆ volleyball  ಆಡಲು ಶುರು ಮಾಡಿದೇವೆ. ಆಶ್ಚರ್ಯವೆಂದರೆ ದಿನ ಕಳೆದಂತೆ ನಮ್ಮ ತಂಡದಲ್ಲಿ ಹೊಸ ಹೊಸ ಸದಸ್ಯರ ಆಗಮನವಾಯಿತು. ಮತ್ತೊಂದು ಆಶ್ಚರ್ಯವೆಂದರೆ ಜಗಳ ಮಾಡಿ ಹೋದ ಆ ಇಬ್ಬರು ತಂಡದ ಸದಸ್ಯರು ಕೂಡ ನಮ್ಮ ತಂಡಕ್ಕೆ ವಾಲಿದರು. ಈಗ ಅವರ ತಂಡದಲ್ಲಿ ಜಗಳ ಮಾಡಿದ ಇಬ್ಬರೇ ಸದಸ್ಯರು ಇದ್ದಾರೆ. ಆಟಕ್ಕುಂಟು ಲೆಕ್ಕಕ್ಕಿಲ್ಲ  ಅನ್ನೋ ಹಾಗೆ ಅವರ ತಂಡದ ಪರಿಸ್ಥಿತಿ ಬಂದೊದಗಿತು. ಈಚೆ cricket ಆದಕ್ಕಾಗದೆ  ಆಚೆ volleyball  ಅದಕ್ಕಾಗದೆ ಈಗ ಮನೆಯಲ್ಲಿಯೇ... ಕೂತು ಚನ್ನಮನೆ  ಆಡುವ ಪರಿಸ್ಥಿತಿ ಬಂದಿದೆ. ಅದರ ನಂತರ ಈಗ ನಮ್ಮ ತಂಡ ಈಗ  19 ಸದಸ್ಯರಿರುವ ಬಲಿಷ್ಠ ತಂಡವಾಗಿ ಮಾರ್ಪಟ್ಟಿದೆ. ಪ್ರತೀ ಶನಿವಾರ ಮತ್ತು ಆದಿತ್ಯವಾರ volleyball  ಆಡುತ್ತಿದ್ದೇವೆ. ಸರಕಾರೀ ರಜೆ ಇದ್ದಾಗಲೂ ನಮ್ಮ ಈ ತಂಡ ಮೈದಾನದಲ್ಲಿ ಹಾಜರ್ ಇದ್ದೇ ಇರುತ್ತದೆ . ಸಮಯ ಸಿಕ್ಕಿದಾಗಲೆಲ್ಲ ನಾವು ಒಂದು ಕಡೆ ಒಟ್ಟಾಗಿ ಹರಟೆ ಹೊಡಿಯುತ್ತಿರುತ್ತ್ಹೇವೆ. ಈ ಹರಟೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ಮುಖ್ಯ ಕೆಲವು ವಿಷಯದ ಬಗ್ಗೆ ಚರ್ಚೆ ನಡೆಯುತ್ತದೆ ಮತ್ತು ಈ ಚರ್ಚೆಯ  ಮಧ್ಯ ನಗುವಿನ ಪಟಾಕಿಯನ್ನೂ ಹಾರಿಸುತ್ತಾರೆ. ಇದರಿಂದ ಸಮಯ ಕಳೆದದ್ದೇ ಗೊತ್ತಾಗುದಿಲ್ಲ. ಈ ವರ್ಷ ನಾವು ಹಲವು ಕಡೆ ಪ್ರವಾಸ ಇಟ್ಟುಕೊಂಡಿದ್ದೆವು. ನಾಲ್ಕು ತಿಂಗಳ ಹಿಂದೆ ಧರ್ಮಸ್ಥಳ , ಸುಭ್ರಹ್ಮಣ್ಯ, ಕೊಡ್ಯಡ್ಕ ಪ್ರವಾಸ ಕ್ಯಗೊಂಡಿದ್ದೆವು. ಮತ್ತೊಮ್ಮೆ  ಅತ್ತೂರು, ಬಂಟಕಲ್ಲು ಜಾತ್ರೆಗೆ ಮತ್ತು ಇತರ ಸಣ್ಣಪುಟ್ಟ ಪ್ರವಾಸ ಹೋಗಿ ಬಂದೆವು.

           ಈಗ ನಾವು ಒಂದು ಹೊಸ ಒಳ್ಳೆಯ ಜನಸೇವೆಯ ಮಾಡಲು ಮುಂದಾಗಿದ್ದೇವೆ. ಅದೇನೆಂದರೆ ನಮ್ಮ ಭೈರಂಜೆ ಶಾಲಾ ವಟಾರದಲ್ಲಿ  ಪ್ರಾಣಯೋಗ ಶಿಬಿರ ಮಾಡಲಿದ್ದೇವೆ. ಜನವರಿ ೩ ರಿಂದ 9 ರವರೆಗೆ ನಡೆಯಲಿದೆ. ಮೊದಲನೆಯ ಬಾರಿ ಇಂಥ ದೊಡ್ಡ ಕೆಲಸಕ್ಕೆ  ಹಸ್ಥ ಜೋಡಿಸಿದ್ದೇವೆ. ಈ  ಜನಸೇವೆ ಯಶಸ್ವಿಯಾಗಿ ನಡೆಯಲೆಂದು ನನ್ನ ಆಶಯ. ಇದೇ  ಥರ  ನಮ್ಮ ತಂಡದ ವತಿಯಿಂದ ಇನ್ನೂ  ತರಹ ತರಹದ ಒಳ್ಳೆಯ ಕೆಲಸ ಮಾಡಿಸಲು ದೇವರು ಶಕ್ತಿ ಕೊಡಲೆಂದು ಪ್ರಾರ್ಥಿಸುತ್ತೇನೆ. ನಮ್ಮದು ಜನಮನ್ನಣೆಯ ತಂಡವಾಗಿ ರೂಪುಗೊಳ್ಳಬೇಕು ಅನ್ನೋದೇ ನನ್ನ ಆಸೆ ಮತ್ತು ಗುರಿ.  ನನ್ನ ಮನಸಿನಲ್ಲಿ ಬಚ್ಚಿಟ್ಟಿದ್ದ ಎಲ್ಲ ಮಾತುಗಳನ್ನು  ನಿಮ್ಮ ಮುಂದೆ ಇಟ್ಟಿರುತ್ತೇನೆ.

Group work with fun..:)

Work doesn't seems like work if u enjoy it and when you enjoy the work it tuns into perfection. Similar thing happens in our club also.However hard may be the work, when we take it up, it becomes a game.That is the specialty of the group work.Hence we enjoy doing hard work.

The pics which you see below are one of such work we took up recently.The task was to move around 25 to 30 huge wooden logs from an interior place in that territory to a place from where the road starts.It was around 1 km distance.The most difficult part is there is not even small proper path to take the logs.

Initially all the logs were in a well from where we had to remove them. After that we had to do all sorts of things like pulling,pushing, rolling etc to get them to a small river. Once all the logs were put into the river it was slightly easier to move them.But if you look at the pictures you will come to know that there was not enough water and also there were lot of rocks which made our task more difficult.

But one thing very special about our group is that we never give up.Once we take up some task, we make sure that it is done with utmost clarity and perfection. During the task many a times we had to relax to regain our energy. Also we were drinking water with jaggery to prevent dehydration and to get energy from sucrose. 

The rocks in the river were so slippery that for a normal man it was just an impossible task.Many a times we slipped and fell and hurt ourselves but we din't give up.If the same work was given to some other people (labors), it would have costed hugely.

During the work, many a times we need to take decisions on how to proceed with work.We ask everybody's opinion and take  a collective decision on which everybody agrees.

Finally all the logs came to the destination. Then we were told to load the logs into a tempo to take them to wooden factory(Mahim Hedge's factory, katikada).So the logs were loaded and taken to factory .There again unloading..ufff. At the end we were totally exhausted,but at the back of the mind we were satisfied to see our work completed successfully.

New year is approaching...

ಹೊಸ ವರ್ಷಕ್ಕೆ ಇನ್ನು ಕೆಲವೇ ದಿನಗಳು ಇವೆ.ಪ್ರತಿ ವರ್ಷ ಹೊಸ ವರ್ಷವನ್ನು ಭಾರಿ ಸಂಬ್ರಮದಿಂದ ಆಚರಿಸುತ್ತೇವೆ.ಇ ಸತ್ತಿ ಕೂಡ ಅದ್ದುರಿಯಿಂದ ಆಚರಿಸುವ ಪ್ಲಾನ್ ನಡೀತಾ ಇದೆ. ಯುಥ್  ಕ್ಲಬ್ ನ ಯಲ್ಲ ಸದಸ್ಯರು ಫುಲ್ ಟೂ ಜೋಶಲ್ಲಿ ಇದ್ದಾರೆ. ನಿನ್ನೆ ಅಂದರೆ,  ಗುರುವಾರ  ಏಕ ಪುತ್ರ ನಗರ ಬಸ್ತಂಡಿನಲ್ಲಿ ಯಲ್ಲರೂ ಒಟ್ಟಾಗಿ ಒಂದು ಮೀಟಿಂಗ್ ಮಾಡಿದ್ದೆವು. ಸುಮಾರು ೧೨ ಜನ ಬಂದಿದ್ದರು. ಮೀಟಿಂಗ್ ನಲ್ಲಿ ನ್ಯೂ ಇಯರ್ ಹೇಗೆ ಆಚರಿಸುವ ಬಗ್ಗೆ ಭಾರಿ discussion ನಡೆಯಿತು. ಸ್ವಲ್ಪ ಕಾಮಿಡಿ ಕೂಡ ಇತ್ತು. ನ್ಯೂ ಇಯರ್ ಗೆ ಟೋಟಲ್ ಖರ್ಚು ಎಷ್ಟು ಆಗಬಹುದೆಂದು ಅಂದಾಜು  ಮಾಡಲಾಯಿತು. ಮೀಟಿಂಗ್ ಸದರ್ನ ರಾತ್ರಿ ೭ ರಿಂದ ೮.೪೫ ತನಕ ನಡೆಯಿತು. ಅದ್ರು ಕೆಲೆವರ  ಅನುಪಸ್ಥಿತಿಯಿಂದ ಮೀಟಿಂಗ್ ಸಂಪೂರ್ಣ ಆಗಲಿಲ್ಲ. ಆದಿತ್ಯವಾರ ಪೂನಹ ಮೀಟಿಂಗ್ ನಡೆಯುವ ಸಾದ್ಯತೆ ಇದೆ. ನ್ಯೂ ಇಯರ್ ಆಚರಿಸುವ ಸಂಪೂರ್ಣ ಮಾಹಿತಿಯನ್ನು ಮುಂದಿನ ಪೋಸ್ತ್ಸ್ ಅಲ್ಲಿ ಕೊಡುವ. ಅಲ್ಲಿಯವರೆಗೆ ಕಾತರದಿಂದ ಕಾಯೀರಿ.....

Hello all,

This is the first post of this blog. In this blog I will introduce you, the most energetic,enthusiastic,hard working, intelligent and electrifying youth of a village called "Bhairanje". Bhairanje is a small village located at around 2.5 km from Athrady. Its population is around 300. Its a very cool place to live.The youth of this place are very much inspiring and they want to improve their village as well as they want to take up some social activities to improve the life of the people.

Omkar Youth Club has been active from one year.It just started with a group of young youths who were gathering every weekend for the playing cricket.There was lot of craze for cricket at that time.They had successfully competed in many cricket tournaments. At that time nobody knew that this group is going to become an active Youth Club. During the New Year celebrations of last year there was an internal clash between some people and the group had to loose some people.But after that incident the group has grown tremendously and has done lot of useful activities.

 Omkar Youth club has conducted many educational and entertainment trips to various parts of South Canara. It has visited many "Krishi Mela"s and gathered lot of useful information for the farmers.It has also constructed a new Volleyball ground for the people who want to burn their calories.Every weekends people from various places like Laate, Ekaputranagara, Kallambettu, Panjadka,Kajarguttu will gather to have fun with Volleyball game. Weekly meeting will be held to discuss about the progress of the current  activities and also to plan the new upcoming activities.
